Cloud Solution for Vietnam’s Gaming Surge: A CEO’s Perspective
August 30th, 2024
Vietnam’s gaming industry is experiencing rapid growth, driven by a young, tech-savvy population and a significant increase in the number of gamers. As of 2023, the gaming market in Vietnam is valued at approximately $1 billion, with projections indicating further growth in the coming years. With this expansion comes a heightened need for robust cloud computing solutions that ensure games run efficiently, securely, and in compliance with local regulations.
Recognizing the potential early on, Rachel, CEO of SCloud, identified a unique opportunity to cater to this growing market. “We observed a trend among our gaming customers who requested to deploy resources and servers in Vietnam,” she explains. “These customers are highly aware of market trends, and our research confirmed a significant rise in the number of gamers in Vietnam. The country’s large young population is a key driver behind this growth.”
Vietnam’s gaming market is unique in that many of the most popular games are produced by foreign companies. These companies often partner with local publishers to navigate the licensing requirements imposed by local authorities. Additionally, the Vietnamese government mandates that servers storing game data must be located within the country. Cognisant that large cloud service providers (CSPs) often focus on other Southeast Asian markets, SCloud saw an opportunity to cater specifically to Vietnam’s gaming industry. “We began our operations in 2021, aiming to serve this niche market where many of our clients are from the gaming sector,” Rachel notes.
SCloud’s Vision for Vietnam
As SCloud continues to expand in Vietnam, Rachel outlines her vision for the company’s future. “Our goal is to become the cloud provider of choice for gaming companies in Southeast Asia, and that includes Vietnam,” she states. “Many of the big international cloud players don’t have data centers in Vietnam, while local Vietnamese cloud providers, although strong domestically, lack a global presence. SCloud is uniquely positioned to offer localized solutions because we have tier-3 data centers across 18 regions in the world, including Vietnam. We’re focusing on areas such as mobile games, online gaming, e-sports, social media, and e-commerce—industries with significant growth potential. By continuing to serve our customers better, we aim to solidify our position in these markets.”
Rachel’s Transition: Leading SCloud in a New Era
Rachel’s path to becoming the CEO of SCloud is unconventional, as she did not come from an IT background. However, she was drawn to the role by the enormous potential she saw in the cloud computing market in Southeast Asia. “The global AI and tech trends are driving demand for infrastructure,” she explains. “I saw immense opportunities in the region’s cloud market. I’ve always embraced challenges and enjoyed learning new things, so taking on the role of CEO at SCloud was a natural step.”
Rachel’s journey to this leadership position is a story of embracing challenges and continuous learning. Coming from a finance background, she faced the task of rapidly developing product and industry knowledge to identify SCloud’s unique value propositions. “One of the biggest challenges was learning about various products and gaining deep industry insights,” she shares. “To overcome this, I established a culture of continuous learning within the company. We regularly conduct training for new product launches, involving all team members. Experts within the team also lead special knowledge-sharing sessions, and I actively engage with our customers during the pre-sales process to understand their needs and learn from their experiences.”
Rachel adds that much of her industry knowledge comes not just from internal teams and experts, but directly from SCloud’s customers. “I often talk to our customers to understand their challenges and learn more about the industry from their perspective,” she says. “These conversations have been invaluable in helping me gain deeper insights into the cloud computing landscape and the specific needs of our clients.”
Conclusion: A Vision for Growth and Innovation
Rachel’s leadership at SCloud is a testament to her ability to turn challenges into opportunities. Her journey from an outsider in the tech industry to a visionary leader is a story of embracing challenges, continuous learning, and a relentless pursuit of innovation. With Rachel at the helm, the future looks bright for both SCloud and the gaming companies it serves.
As Vietnam’s gaming industry continues to grow, SCloud remains committed to supporting this vibrant market with tailored cloud solutions that drive efficiency, security, and compliance. By focusing on localized solutions and understanding the unique needs of Vietnam’s gaming industry, SCloud is well-positioned to become a leading cloud provider in Southeast Asia.
