Product Overview

Object storage (US3) is a service that provides unstructured data storage for Internet applications. Compared with traditional hard disk storage, object storage has the advantages of unlimited storage, support for concurrent access, and lower cost. Its data persistence is no less than 99.999999999%, and the standard storage service is not less than 99.95% available.

Once the data is stored in US3, you can select the standard storage type of US3 services for mobile applications, large sites, graphs, and other applications. You can also choose lower-cost, longer-lasting low-frequency storage types and archival storage types with US3 services for backup and archiving of infrequently accessed data.

Object Storage Space (Bucket)

An object storage space (or storage space) is an organizational unit of file management, and a file must belong to a certain space. The name of a space is globally unique and cannot be changed. Each account can create a maximum of 20 storage spaces, and the number of files in a storage space is No restrictions. You can set the storage space as public or private to control access to files in the storage space.

Main Concepts

Private Space

All file operations must be authorized by the owner’s API key in order to access.

Public Space 

All file downloads can be accessed directly via URL. Uploads, deletions, and lists still require API key authorization to access.

Object / File (Object)

A file is a logical storage unit of a storage space. For each account, each file stored in that account is identified by a unique pair of Bucket and Key.

File Name (Key)

Each file name identifies a file in the storage space, and the user can customize the file name when writing to a file. Uploading a file with the same file name will cause the original file name to be overwritten. When downloading a file, users only need to know the domain name of the download outlet, but not the specific device in the server room where the file will be stored, nor the specific storage format. Simply enter the corresponding URL in your browser to access the file.

File Name Specifications

  1. Use UTF-8 encoding
  2. The length must be between 1 and 1023 bytes
  3. It is allowed to start with “/” character, but “{}^[]<>#~%” is not allowed.

Access to the domain name (Endpoint)

The Endpoint table shows the domain names for accessing US3’s external services, which are provided as HTTP RESTful APIs and require different domain names when accessing different geographic regions. The domain names required for accessing the same locale through the internal and external grid are also different. For details, please refer to Geographical Areas and Domain Names.

Token Key (API Access)

A Token key is a pair of public and private keys; the user can create a Token key and grant different Token permissions for a bucket, and different Tokens can be distributed to different users to achieve subdivided permission management for the bucket. In addition, Token keys can be Set an expiration date, which can also be deleted at any time to ensure the security of access to the Bucket.

API Key (API Access) 

The API key is used to verify your identity when using the API and to prevent others from tampering with your request data. Before making an API request, you need to use both the public and private keys to create a signature. To protect the security of your account, please keep your private key safe and avoid transferring it. Do not use the API key to access US3 directly, as there is a higher risk of leakage.

Region (Region)

Geography indicates the physical location of the data center in US3. You can select the geographic region for data storage based on a combination of cost, request source, and more. For more information, see the regions that US3 has opened.

Single-territory space management

The single-territory object storage service can solve the file storage problem of business architecture by creating multiple copies of data uploaded by users and storing them across server rooms.

Multi-geographic cross-regional replication

You can set up cross-region replication for two or more specified buckets to synchronize data uploads in multiple locations and achieve data backup and disaster recovery in multiple locations; you can also achieve the function of nearby uploads by using circular cross-region replication with self-defined domain names and cnames to multiple buckets.

Storage Type

US3 provides three storage types: standard, low-frequency, and archival, covering a wide range of data storage scenarios from hot to cold. The standard storage type provides highly reliable, highly usable, and high-performing object storage services that can support frequent data access; the low-frequency storage type is suitable for long-term storage of infrequently accessed data and has a lower storage unit cost than the standard type; the archive storage type is suitable for long-term storage of archived data (more than six months is recommended) and has the lowest unit cost among the three storage types. Life Cycle

In addition, the auto-cooling function can be configured to automatically convert files with specified prefixes to low-frequency storage or archival storage, saving the storage cost of the client.

You can log in to the US3 Management Console to manipulate storage and objects. For more information on operating the management console, please refer to the console User Guide. Please refer to the API list and SDK list for a flexible way to manage US3.

US3 Pricing

Traditional storage service providers require you to purchase a predetermined amount of storage and network transport capacity, and if you exceed that capacity, they will shut down the service or charge you a high overcapacity fee; if you do not exceed that capacity, you will be charged for the full capacity. As your business grows, you will enjoy additional infrastructure cost benefits. For US3 pricing, please refer to Metering and Billing.

Function Overview

 Storage Function

US3 products provide support for the following commonly used upload and download functions for object storage.

Normal Upload (Put File)

Normal upload refers to uploading a single file using the Put File method in the Object Storage API, which can be used in any HTTP request interaction, such as uploading small files.

Form Upload (Post File)

Form upload is an upload method for small file uploads that uses the Post File request in the Object Storage API to complete a file upload.

Multipart Upload

Partitioned upload means to divide the file to be uploaded into multiple data chunks and then use the Object Storage API to combine these parts into a File after the upload is completed.

UploadHit (Second Upload File)

If the file already exists in the object storage, the file can be uploaded without uploading the file; otherwise, other upload ports must be used to upload the file.

General Download (Get File)

Normal download refers to the download of uploaded files by using the GET request of HTTP.

Range Get 

Split download is a function that starts downloading from the location specified by File, and can be divided into multiple downloads for large files. If the download is interrupted in the middle, the download can be resumed from the last completed location when restarting.

Management Functions

US3 products support standard object storage upload and download functions, in addition to providing a wealth of management features.

Domain Management

The object store supports providing access to test domains, and you can choose to bind a custom domain name to create CDN acceleration.

Static Website Hosting

You can configure a static web hosting policy for US3 buckets with custom domain names that have been bound via the console.

Life Cycle

By enabling the Storage Lifecycle feature, you can manage the lifecycle of all files or files with specific prefixes in the storage space, and set up lifecycle rules for archiving and deleting files.

When the data you request from US3 storage does not exist, you can set up mirroring back rules to read back the request for data in a variety of ways to meet your needs for data hot migration and specific request redirection.

Cross-domain access

Cross-domain access (CORS) refers to the operation of requesting resources from one domain’s Web site to another domain’s Web site. You can restrict cross-domain access through the cross-domain access policy management function.

Cross-regional replication

You can select two different geographic storage spaces to be bound for file synchronization. This provides cross-territory disaster recovery capability for storage space while meeting your data replication needs.

Date Management

After you set up a date-managed storage space, all the logs of access to the storage space will be stored in the storage space you specify by hour, according to a fixed name.

Token Management

The token function allows you to open storage space and file management rights flexibly according to your needs.

Photo processing

Supports a range of photo processing operations for photos uploaded and stored in the object storage.

Decompression Services

Decompression service is a low-cost and highly reliable decompression service provided by SCloud, which can set rules to automatically decompress the uploaded compressed packages.

The File Preview function supports online preview of text files, presentation files, form files, and pdf files stored in US3.

Based on a highly-usable architecture, multiple copies of files stored by the users are distributed among different storage clusters, so that even cluster-scale failures will not affect the availability of storage files and provide 11-9 data persistence. The cloud storage space has no upper limit, so there is no need to consider storage space expansion, and it supports single files of less than 5TB. It supports Hive, Spark, Flink, and other big data computing frameworks to read and write data on object storage as if it were an HDFS file system. Storage Type

US3 provides three types of storage: standard, low-frequency, and archival, which are used for frequently accessed hot data, low-frequency accessed backup data, and archival data for long-term storage, covering a wide range of data storage scenarios from hot to cold.

Standard Storage

Standard Storage provides highly reliable, highly usable, and high-performing object storage services with high-throughput and low-latency service responsiveness that can support frequent hot data access.

Low Frequency Storage

The low-frequency storage type offers high reliability, low storage cost, and low access latency for long term storage of infrequently accessed data. The storage unit cost is lower than the standard type, and low-frequency storage has the shortest storage time and smallest object size, and the storage time

A fee will be incurred if the file is deleted earlier than 30 days. If the size of a single file is less than 64KB, the storage space will be calculated based on 64KB, and data acquisition costs will be incurred.

Archival Storage

The archive storage type offers high reliability, low storage cost, and long-life offline cold data storage for archived data that needs to be kept for a long time (more than six months is recommended) and is rarely accessed during the storage lifetime. Archival storage has a minimum storage time and a minimum object size among the three storage types, and early deletion of files with storage time shorter than 60 days will incur a fee. Files that are less than 64KB in size will be calculated based on 64KB of storage space, and data acquisition costs will be incurred.

Storage Type Conversion

The following automatic conversions of storage types are supported.

1. Conversion of standard storage to low frequency storage

2. Standard storage converted to archival storage

  1. For files that need to be reconverted from archive type to standard type or low-frequency type, the conversion of low-frequency type files to standard type files can be achieved by re-uploading the file and specifying the corresponding storage type to convert the storage type.For example, if you need to convert a file that has been stored as a low-frequency type to a standard type again, you can re-upload the file and specify the standard storage type when uploading it, and the newly written file will be the standard storage type.
  2. For files that have been dumped to archive type, the RESTORE operation needs to be performed first to unfreeze them to a readable state before they can be read.

Geographical and Domain Names

US3 object storage provides two types of access: external grid domain name can respond to all access requests from the Internet, and internal grid domain name can respond to access requests from SCloud public cloud services (e.g. UHost cloud hosting, UK8S container cloud, etc.) in the same region.

If data is accessed using an external domain name, outbound traffic costs are incurred.

After you create a storage space, the domain address of your storage space will be in the format < storage space name>. < domain address> .

Metering and billing

The section on metering and billing describes the cost components and billing methods of the US3 Object Storage service. The US3 product is a post-paid model in which US3 counts usage every hour and bills on a daily basis with specific billing granularity. Available zones for US3 to Hong Kong, Taipei and overseas include: Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Singapore, Jakarta, Taipei, Lagos, Sao Paulo, Dubai, Frankfurt, Ho Chi Minh City, Washington, D.C. and Mumbai. Note: [Photo processing] will be billed from July 1, 2022.

Additional Notes 

  1. Both low-frequency storage and archive storage types have a minimum storage period. Deleting, modifying, or overwriting files earlier than the minimum storage period is subject to the storage fee for the remaining days of the minimum storage period.
  2. For low-frequency storage and archive storage types, the storage space is calculated according to the size of 64KB files for single files smaller than 64KB files, and the storage space is calculated according to the actual size for files over 64KB files.
  3. For archival storage types, unfreezing operations using RESTORE require a data unfreezing fee. After thawing is completed, no additional fees will be charged for data retrieval, only for normal outflow traffic. After thawing, data is retained for three days, and no retrieval fee is charged for retrieving thawed
  4. When the cross-region replication function is used, outbound traffic charges will be created, and each region’s storage space will be charged at its own storage capacity and billing rate. The globalized storage space function has been taken offline (it is recommended to use the cross-region replication function), and the former globalized storage space billing items and billing rules remain unchanged for the time being.
  1. Note on data retrieval fee: For data stored in low frequency type, retrieval fee = download file size * retrieval fee unit price + outgoing traffic fee, and retrieval fee will be charged for both internal and external grid downloads.

For data stored as archives, the unfreeze fee = unfreeze file size * unfreeze fee unit price, and the outgoing traffic fee is charged when downloading the unfreezed data. The data retrieval fee is separate from the traffic fee. If the data retrieval process generates external grid traffic fee, it will be charged normally, and no traffic fee will be charged for internal grid download.

Billing rules

Billing Item

The current billing items of US3 products include data storage, outbound traffic, CDN back to source traffic, request fee, and data retrieval. Please refer to the product price for the price of specific billing items.

Billing Method

The US3 Object Storage Service is a pay-as-you-use service, with hourly usage statistics and billings generated on a daily basis. Details of the billing rules for each billing item are listed below.

Storage Capacity

Daily storage volume fee = Average daily storage volume * Daily storage volume unit price

Average storage per day = sum of the average storage per hour of the day ÷ 24 hours

Outflow of external grid

Daily idle traffic rate = daily idle download traffic * daily idle traffic unit price Daily busy traffic rate = daily busy download traffic * busy traffic unit price

CDN Back to Source Traffic

Daily CD N return traffic rate = Daily CDN return traffic * CDN return traffic unit price

Request Fee

Request fee = Number of requests per day × Unit price per 10,000 requests ÷ 10,000

Additional Notes

  1. The service will be turned on automatically if you make up the sufficient charge within 30 After 30 days, you will be deemed to have voluntarily abandoned the US3 storage service, and space and data deletion will not be restored. Please refer to the debt fee processing for details.
  2. US3 The cancellation of the prepaid-purchase quota package does not affect the unused quota of the original package and can continue to be used.
  3. The number of requests created using the US3 API’s Put/Get class request is used, and the number of requests is counted regardless of whether the request succeeds or fails.


Debt Fee processing

When your SCloud is in a billing status, you will see the following message when you enter the US3 product window in the console.

The impact of the debt fee on US3 services

1.After 3 days of the fee, services (upload, download, delete, etc.) will be restricted, US3 storage cannot be created, and some requests will fail until all services are unavailable. Storage data will be retained during the restricted service period.

2.After 30 days of payment, you will be deemed to have given up the US3 service, and the system will reclaim the storage space and delete the stored data, which cannot be recovered after deletion.

3.If you pay for your order within 3 days, your service will not be affected; if you pay for your order in full between 3 and 30 days, service availability will be restored and US3 service restrictions will be

4.Data stored in US3 will still be billed until it is deleted. If you are still using SCloud products, please delete them promptly to avoid additional billing.

5.There are email notifications and SMS notifications after the fee is charged, before the service is restricted, and before and after the deletion, and the person who is notified is the subscriber of the resource recovery message for the corresponding item.


Billing Cases


The US3 is used by Client A, and the UCDN acceleration service is enabled. The file storage capacity (standard type) was 2.5TB and 200GB of CDN traffic was generated. 900GB of CDN download traffic was generated for this acceleration scenario.

Same day rate calculation.

US3 product-side total costs are as follows.

Storage space cost: 2.5 * 1024GB * 0.004 RMB/GB/day = 10.24 RMB

CDN return traffic cost: 200GB * $0.15/GB = $30 Total cost: $10.24 + 30 = $40.24

The total cost of the UCDN product side is as follows.

CDN download traffic fee = 900GB * $0.34/GB = $306

US3+UCDN total cost: $40.24 + 306 = $346.24

Note: Because the UCDN acceleration service is enabled, a charge is created for CDN download traffic, which is counted and billed on the UCDN product side. For details on billing prices, please refer to UCDN Product Pricing.


US3 is used by USER B, and UCDN acceleration service is not enabled. The file storage (standard type) capacity is 2.5TB as of December 1, 18, creating 150GB of outbound traffic during idle hours and 800GB of outbound traffic during busy hours.

Storage space cost: 2.5* 1024 GB* 0.004 RMB/GB/day = 10.24 RMB

Outbound traffic cost: 150GB * $0.25/GB + 800GB * $0.45/GB = $397.5 Total cost: $10.24 + 397.5 = $407.74


US3 is used with USC and UCDN acceleration service is not enabled. On the date of December 1, 18: 1TB of file storage (standard type), 1TB of file storage (low frequency type), and 0.5TB of file storage (archive type). 500GB of outbound traffic of standard type, 10GB of outbound traffic of low frequency type, 15GB of unfrozen data of archive type, and 10GB of outbound traffic of archive type were generated during busy hours. 10GB.

Storage space fee: 1 * 1024GB * $0.004/GB/day + 1 * 1024GB * $0.002/GB/day + 0.5 * 1024GB * $0.0008/GB/day = $10.24 External outflow traffic fee: (500GB + 10GB + 10GB) * $0.45/GB = $234
